2. Script Analysis: Beats
We are going to use the soliloquy of Jaques from As You Like It. It is a favorite of many actors.
A new beat starts when...
.....a) A character ENTERS
.....b) A character EXITS
.....c) A change in TOPIC
3. Script Analysis: Line Copying
This is really a memorization device to help you learn your lines. Copy one line or sentence at a time.
4. Script Analysis: Repetition and Meaning
In order to learn a line, you must understand it and the motivation behind saying it. Take one line at a time and repeat aloud, and as you do so think about why the character is saying this line.
5. Script Analysis: Exaggerated Movement and Blocking
Another important technique in learning lines is to move while you are saying the line. The movements should be related to the line being said and be as exaggerated as possible.
